 Death: Dr. Harold L. Richardson

WINONA, MS – Rev. Dr. Harold L. Richardson passed away on July 21, 2012, at his home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Winona, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. officiated by Rev. Grover Gunn and eulogized by Jerry Ellis and Kay Weaver.

Dr. Richardson was born in Ripley, MS in 1936. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and Reformed Theological Seminary. He also attended Millsaps College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Wyoming.

He was the Pastor Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Winona, and previously held pastorships in Woodville, MS and Camden, AL. Before and after entering the ministry, he taught high school classes for more than 40 years and was an instructor at Northeast Mississippi Junior College, Wood Junior College and Holmes Community College. He also served four years in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sally R. Richardson, and four children: Brent Richardson, Kari Phillips, and Lori Hunger (James), all of Winona; and Phil Richardson (Shauna) of Memphis. He is

also survived by four grandchildren: Lauren Herbert, Juston Herbert, Phillip Lee Dotson, and Hayden Phillips. He is survived by three siblings: Mary Sue Tate (Gene) of New Albany, Pamela Hill (Larry) of Faulkner, and Patricia Hopper (Jimmy), and his mother, Gladys Roten Richardson, of Ripley.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lamont Daniel Richardson of Ripley.
