Day of Thanksgiving

To: All ARP Churches, ministers, members, and friends:

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the administration of Erskine College and Seminary received official notification that its accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), had reversed its earlier decision to place Erskine on probation for good cause and has now reaffirmed accreditation for Erskine College and Seminary through 2032 without any further monitoring. This is a tremendous answer to prayer that will help Erskine move forward in its mission “to glorify God as a Christian academic community where students integrate knowledge and faith, equipped to flourish as whole persons prepared for lives of service, leadership, and influence.”

As a result of this unprecedented action by the accreditor, I, as moderator of General Synod, hereby encourage all congregations of the ARP church to pause on this next Lord’s Day (January 25, 2025) to thank God for his faithfulness to our College and Seminary and to praise Him for His intervention in this matter.

  1. That sounds like good news. Praise the Lord. What was the reason for it being placed on probation originally? And what was the reason they gave for removing it?
