Great Commission Church

A Welcome and Recognition/Installation Service was held on October 17, 2021 for the Great Commission Church of Douglaston, Queens, NY. The Great Commission Church was established over 20 years ago and is currently meeting at the Zion Episcopal Church in Douglaston. The Rev. Youngjin Abraham Kim is the pastor.

The Great Commission Church was recently received as a member of Northeast Presbytery in March 2020, however the public welcoming service was delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Following the Sunday worship service, at which the Rev. GJ Gerard, Chairman of the Korean Transition-Administrative Commission of the Northeast Presbytery preached on the Five Solas of the Reformed Faith, the Rev. Daniel Rhee, Vice-Chairman of the Commission presided for the Recognition and Installation Service.
Rev. Gerard addressed the congregation for their public affirmation to unite with Northeast Presbytery and upon their unanimous affirmation, the congregation was officially declared to be an Organized Church of Northeast Presbytery.
Rev. Rhee addressed Rev. Abraham Kim who re-affirmed his ordination vows and was thereby recognized and installed as Pastor of the Great Commission Church.
Rev. Abraham Kim addressed Mr. Soo S. Kim and Mr. J.S. Yoo, as Ruling Elders,  who re-affirmed their ordination vows and were thereby recognized and installed as members of the duly constituted Session.
The Rev. Daniel Rhee concluded the Service with Thanksgiving to GOD for establishing the Great Commission Church and for its joining the Northeast Presbytery.
Also participating in the Service were the Rev. Hong Suk Kim, pastor of the Joyful Church of New York (ARPC) who brought congratulatory greetings, and the Rev. Young Suu Park, pastor of the Beautiful Disciples Church (ARPC) who led in a pastoral prayer. Also present was the Rev. Young Koo Jeon, World Witness Associate Missionary in the Dominican Republic, who was a classmate of Rev. Abraham Kim during their seminary studies.
