Message from the Moderator

Greetings from your Moderator! September is upon us! And I want to remind you of the monthly emphasis as approved at the 2026 meeting of General Synod.

September – Jesus in International Missions: World Witness – “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” – Romans 15:21

Corresponding with this note, you should have just received the latest ARP Magazine in your email inbox. (If you did not receive it, go to arpmagazine.org, and fill out the “eMail Optin” box midway down the page.)

In the magazine, you will find a great article, “Setting Our Faces Like Flint,” written by Rev. Sam Cotten covering this month’s emphasis. The article mentions the results of a Synod survey which listed the three most important directions for World Witness, our Board of Foreign Missions: 1) go to the least reached, 2) plant churches, and 3) prepare pastors. I encourage you to read the entire, well-written article.

So, in this brief note, I ask that you commit to praying this month for those 3 things.

  • For number 1, use that article for details on how to pray, considering the unreached and unfounded and what it will take to get there.
  • For number 2, the prayer is much the same as last month’s emphasis with Outreach North America. Wide, even enormous, swaths of parched land here at home and all over the world need LIFE planted in them, in the form of gospel-preaching, biblically reformed church plants.
  • For number 3, pray for the SEED ministry and its work, Serving the Global Church by Educating, Equipping, and Discipling Leaders.

And with a view to our leaders of the future, December 30 – January 3, CrossCon takes place in St. Louis, MO. It is for young adults, ages 18-25, especially those who are interested in missions or want to learn more. The conference will focus on the gospel, the local church, and God’s mission among the nations. The cost is $500 per person, but as ARP members, our young people will receive a 50% discount. Additional information and an interest form can be found at worldwitness.org. Think of those in your midst who might be interested. Talk and pray with them and help them fill out the interest form. The deadline for registering is October 31, but the time is NOW to at least show interest and gather information.

If you are a pastor, clerk of Session, church administrator, or stated clerk of a Presbytery, would you please forward this message to the widest distribution possible under your purview?

May the Lord grant you to continue growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In His Service and His Grace,

  1. The emphasis on youth is is absolutely needed today. Emphasizing missions to children, teens, college age, –teaching from the Bible, challenging, recruiting, to seriously consider missions. The January conference looks very good. The cause of Christ, the increase of His kingdom, to bring His gospel to unreached nations, must be foremost in this generation. Thank you for your call to pray, promote and persuade ARP youth.
