Spring Day

By: Brandy Glasser, Women’s Ministries President

When Spring arrives, we always see a renewal of bright colored flowers, lush green grass, and full tree foliage. We leave behind the dreary, greyness of Winter. Stores put away the cold weather gear, snow removal equipment and begin to promote the necessities for warmer weather. Farmers and gardeners are tilling up fields and gardens while picking out what seeds they are going to plant this time. Ranchers are getting ready for newborn calves and moving their cattle to new pastures for grazing. It is a time of renewal and new birth.

It is worth remembering that it was during this season of the year when Jesus was judged, crucified on the cross, buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead. This was not accidental. God gave us the seasons as a regular reminder of this new birth and as a providential gift to help us not forget that God the Father gave us Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sins. He lived the way we should, glorifying our Father’s Word! So as this fresh reminder is upon us again, to see once more his goodness to us, let us remember that not only has God given us the Spring, but HE has given us every Sunday to remember this gift, the resurrection of Christ from the dead. On the first day of the week, we worship and give thanks.

It is in light of this great mercy that we are to rest in Jesus on HIS day and follow what is commanded of us in God’s Word. One way to think about this is that every Sunday is a new Spring day. Despite how gloomy the world may seem, inside our churches, it is a bright, sunny day as we look forward to the Spring that will beat all Springs, as we ascend to Heaven, free from sin, and basking in ALL of God’s Glory!

John 3:16 (KJV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
