Ukraine Report

By: Heiko Burklin, World Witness

The crisis in Ukraine continues. On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of this sovereign country. According to the most recent reports by the BBC and UN, more than 830,000 people have already entered neighboring countries to the west, such as Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova. Poland has taken in over 450,000 refugees, and each day another 50,000 are arriving according to Polish government officials. The flow of Ukrainian refugees will not abate any time soon with estimates as high as 5 million by the time peace is achieved.

These displaced families are experiencing great needs and danger as they seek shelter in surrounding countries. The crisis has also affected some of our own missionaries.

We ask that you also pray for:

  • God’s protection, strength and provision for the refugees and those in bordering countries who are opening their churches and homes;
  • Many hearts to turn in trust and faith to Christ;
  • Peace to return to Ukraine and surrounding nations.

World Witness is prepared to receive funds for refugee relief and is working with a couple of missionaries in the distribution of these gifts. We ask you to consider a gift today to help provide for the basic needs of these refugees.
