Update about Synod 2020
Planning for the August meeting of Synod is continuing. A question was raised recently about whether virtual participation in the meeting is permissible and possible. The answer is that virtual participation is permissible, so options for a hybrid meeting, with some at Bonclarken and others participating virtually, are being considered. Given the COVID-19 situation in North Carolina and the current pause in the state’s phased reopening, options for a completely virtual Synod meeting are also being considered. Additional details will be available as soon as possible. A final decision about the format of the August meeting of Synod will also be made and communicated as soon as possible but no later than August 1.
Thanks!

Huntersville ARP Prayer Request
Please pray for Mike Dunn, a Ruling Elder at HARP and board member of Christian Hospital in Sahiwal. After a colonoscopy and a CT scan, the doctors have determined that he has stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to the liver and the lining of the abdomen. The treatment recourse is chemotherapy, which will be every other week and until Mike determines it is time to stop. The goal of the chemo is to reduce the cancer and extend his life for a time. Let us fervently pray for our dear brother and support him as he enters this journey. May the Lord heal as He deems best and strengthen them by His grace!
With a heavy heart,
Lee Shellnut
Family BIble Conference Updates
While it has been a deep disappointment to cancel Family Bible Conference, we are delighted to announce that we will have the sessions from our two main speakers and many of our seminars available for you online! Dr. Mark Ross and Dr. Jonny Gibson are in the home stretch of getting their talks recorded and sent in to us. Once they are, we will be posting them on the FBC website for anyone and everyone to consume with joy and delight!
In addition, many of the speakers we had planned to teach seminars will also be able to record their presentations so you can benefit from their hard work and insight. As these recordings are received we will post them online, so be sure to check in as you are able. Once the two main speakers’ sessions are available, we will send another email announcement letting you know.
As we continue in the strangeness and difficulty of this season, I leave you with this thought from the theme verse of Family Bible Conference 2020: “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13, ESV)
Have you seen this working out in your life in the past few months? Do people recognize that you have been with Jesus? One of the questions that I have asked myself is, “Has my reflection of Christ become clearer in this season or has it dimmed?” My prayer for you and for me is that even though we won’t be gathering at Bonclarken, we would be united to Jesus in such a way that those around us are astonished at how common men and women can so clearly reflect the Savior.
