Special Service: Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church
On Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, the historic Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of W. Woodand Church Street, Monticello, AR, will focus on the arts in worship at its regular 11 a.m. worship service. The Chancel Choir will present a concert of sacred music, and the sermon will be based on II Samuel 6: 5, 14.
The choir’s selections will reflect both traditional and contemporary music. “The Shepherd Psalm,” a rendering of Psalm 23, celebrates the psalm-singing heritage of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The choir will also present arrangements of such traditional hymns as “It Is Well with My Soul,” and “What Wondrous Love Is This, O My Soul.” Recognizing the place of contemporary music in worship, the program also features “If I Had but a Moment,” “I Come to Him,” both by Sally DeFord, and the popular “God on the Mountain,” by Tracy Dartt.
James Cathey, organist and music director, and the Chancel Choir invite the public to this time of worship and reflection.
